A soldier and his dog is one of the most beautiful relationships of all time. Unfortunately for many soldiers, these dogs don’t always get to come home with the handler. Sergeant Jason Bos is one of these soldiers.

Bos and his dog, Cici, spent five years fighting alongside of each other in Iraq. With over 100 missions the two worked with the secret service and detecting roadside bombs. The two were inseparable on the field, but eventually Bos retired with a back injury and was forced to leave Cici behind.

screen-shot-2016-10-11-at-4-26-05-pmSgt. Bos left his best friend, a Chocolate Labrador, without knowing if he would ever see the K9 again.

Two years past without hearing a word about his dog. Bos never gave up hope that he would one day return to him. That hope paid off when Bos got news that Cici was retiring. Thanks to the efforts of the American Humane Association and Mission K9 Rescue, Cici was flown from Germany to Chicago to be reunited with his best friend.

When Cici comes into the airport, she hears that old familiar voice and goes wild. The two are on the floor in uncontrollable joy. “So what’s the future hold for you two soldiers?” the cameraman asked Sgt. Bos. The soldier responded that he wanted to help veterans with the struggles of Post-deployment. As for Cici? He’s going to put her to work as a couch potato!
