Samantha and Don Swaney were setting up for their big yard sale when the patrol car pulled up.

Samantha immediately thought that they were there because they didn’t have a permit to make the yard sale legal.  But that’s not why the police were there.  In fact, those police officers were about to change the Swaney’s lives. . .

Earlier that day the Conyer’s Police Department officers had rushed to a scene and saved a baby’s life.  While they were in the home where the baby lived, they noticed that the parents were not able to supply even some of the basic family needs.  These parents needed some extra help.

So the officers were on their way to purchase a new crib for the baby when they happened upon the Swaney’s yard sale.

They decided to stop and ask if they had a crib for sale.  Here’s where the story becomes unbelievable…

When the officers asked if the Swaney’s had a crib for sale, Samantha didn’t even flinch.  She knew that God had sent those officers. . .

Several years before, Samantha and Don had lost a baby during labor.  For the years that followed, a brand new crib sat unused in their attic.  It was just impossible to discard. . .

Until the day the police showed up in her front yard!

‘Those officers did so much more than they knew. . .They rushed to the aid of someone in our community, saved the life of a little baby and helped her parents.  And they gave me a way to let go of one of the biggest things I was holding onto from my son’s cut-short life.  I praise God for those two — I am so grateful for servants like them in our community.  They weren’t looking for praise, they were responding to a need.  They could’ve just gone home from work and hugged their families and forgotten about it, but that wasn’t enough for them.”  Samantha said.

What a GREAT story of heroic rescue, sacrificial servants and life-changing healing through generosity.
