Jay-Z was a super sick and very old Chihuahua who had a signature sticking-out-tongue. The shelter she was at said she didn’t have long left to live, but Heather Hays thought differently.

Hays is a marketing manager at the Ashville Humane Society. The staff wasn’t even sure if Jay-Z was even adoptable due to her deteriorating health, but Heather wanted to take her home.

“I said, ‘Let me take her home for a night and if we decide she doesn’t have a quality of life and we have to let her go, I want her to be at a home. At least she’ll feel loved for 24 hours,’ “ said Heather.

So heather adopted her and took her home, for an expected 24 hours. But those 24 hours turned into 24 days, then 24 weeks, and now has turned into 4 years. Jay-Z is still alive and well, and it seems that the love she received from Heather gave her a second chance at life.

The two are very happy, and we are so glad that it was a perfect fit for Jay-Z and that she is doing so well! We hope that Jay-Z has many more years left with Heather!
