Any parent that has lost their child in a store or on the beach certainly knows the heart-stopping fear that consumes them for those dreaded minutes that you are searching.  Nothing else in the world matters but finding your child.  Can you imagine what this family in Alabama recently suffered when their 10-year-old boy with Down Syndrome was lost for nearly 20 hours?

Kyle Camp went missing and his family searched for him but he was no where to be found.  Word spread quickly through their small town and the community came together to search for Kyle. . .but hour after hour, nothing.  It seemed as though he had vanished.

Then something incredible happened. . .something right out of an old “Lassie” episode.  The family dog — who had recently delivered four puppies — starting barking and running toward the rescuers.  They decided to follow the frantic dog.  The heroic k-nine took them a mile and a half into the woods.  There was Kyle, sitting in a creek cold and wet, surrounded by the dog’s four puppies.

The rescuers believe that Kyle wandered off following the puppies into the forest.  They also believe that the puppies had climbed on Kyle to keep him warm overnight, saving his life.  The boy just had some minor scrapes and bruises, but he was absolutely OK.

“We don’t know what would have happened to him had the puppies not been with him,” said Kyle’s dad. “And credit goes to the mother dog for leading me to the boy.”
