In the animal kingdom life is called wild. . .but this friendship between two animals is not only wild but mind blowing as well!  You’ve probably seen unlikely bonds between animals before on the internet.  Dogs sometimes form a bond with cats or birds, pigs befriend cows.  But just when you thought you have seen it all. . .We have a story about the friendship between an ostrich and an elephant!

Once again the “wild” life in the animal kingdom shows us that there’s no need to make divisions between species.  Even animals that are nothing alike can become the best of friends.  Pea the ostrich and his brother were saved while rescuers from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust were looking for a baby elephant.  The rescuers finally found Jotto the elephant.  He had been separated from his herd after he fell down a well.

When Jotta and Pea met each other at the Nairobi Nursery animal orphanage, they quickly began relating to each other like long lost family.  “It is safe to say orphaned ostrich Pea most definitely believes she is part of the elephant herd, and little Jotto is more than happy to enjoy a cuddle with his feathered friend,” the wildlife trust wrote on Facebook.

The wildlife trust regularly saves and rehabilitates poor abandoned animals from the wild.  In the animal orphanage, these threatened animals can grow strong and healthy and when it is possible, go back into the wild.  But while in the nursery, they apparently can become the best of friends with animals of any species.  Just ask Kiko the abandoned giraffe.  He too is growing up as a friend to the ostrich and the elephant.

This story is “wild!”
