Can you imagine having five rescue animals and three kids? I’m pretty sure it would feel like a zoo. That’s what Elizabeth Spence’s house looks like most days. “At any time of day you’re likely to find a pile of kids, cats and/or dogs lying around the house somewhere,” Spence told the Dodo.

Elizabeth and her husband often have a hard time turning down any animals in need of a home. They especially like animals that no one else wants. One of these types of animals is their new dog, Nora, who is an 8-year-old English Pointer. Nora was angry at everyone due to a extremely rough past. She hated everyone…everyone except an 11-month-old baby named Archie.  (cont. below)

“Archie is an extremely laid-back, happy good-natured baby and all the animals seem to really respond to that, particularly Nora,” Spence said. “She came from an abusive background and is afraid of almost everything. Not Archie, though. She absolutely adores him!”

Archie and Nora now do everything together. The two are practically inseparable. For some reason, Nora finds Archie to be safe and secure. There is no threat or worry…of course, Archie is a toddler still.

“If Archie is having a bath, Nora is lying on the bath mat waiting for him to get out,” Spence told the Dodo. “If I’m nursing him she wants up on my lap, too. If he’s going through my cupboards throwing all the dishes on the floor, She’ll be there cheering him on.”

The two also love spending lots of time in their playroom together!

But then they get tired and have to nap…

Despite coming from an abusive background, Nora doesn’t see the world as scary anymore. By each other’s side, they can accomplish anything.
